Job description

About HashKey Exchange

HashKey Exchange is a licensed virtual asset trading platform headquartered in Hong Kong, operating under the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) regulatory framework. We serve retail, accredited, and institutional clients with a focus on compliance, transparency, and institutional-grade risk management.

Our margin trading business enables clients to borrow virtual assets or fiat against collateral to amplify spot trading exposure, within a robust framework covering tiered margin rates, collateral valuation, suitability assessment, margin calls, and liquidation. Margin trading is being integrated into HashKey’s broader Unified Trading Account architecture, alongside spot and U-margined perpetuals, to deliver capital efficiency and a seamless trading experience for professional users.

We are hiring the single business owner for margin & lending — accountable for product direction, live-book operations, margin parameters within risk mandate, and commercial outcomes.

Role Overview

You are the Margin Business Owner: you set product direction, run the live book within risk and regulatory constraints, drive parameter and commercial decisions, and are accountable for growth, reliability, and auditability of the margin franchise.

This is an ownership role spanning product and operations — not a delivery-only PM seat. You combine structured product thinking with hands-on operational discipline, and you are measured on business outcomes as much as on shipped features.

Accountability & Decision Rights

  • Owns: Margin & lending product scope, roadmap prioritization, post-launch business KPIs, cadence of day-to-day parameter changes, and business-side decision recommendations on major incidents.
  • Decides within mandate: Collateral listing recommendations, leverage tier and fee/rate structure proposals, and VIP / institutional credit workflows (within Risk-approved limits).
  • Partners / does not replace: Final risk limits and models sit with Risk; legal disclosures and client classification sit with Legal & Compliance; funding cost and lending-pool liquidity are jointly managed with Treasury.
  • Reports: To Asset Management / designated senior leadership

Key Responsibilities

Business Ownership & Outcomes

  • Own margin & lending P&L drivers: borrow volume, utilization, interest and fee income, active margin accounts, and conversion through the margin funnel.
  • Set and track OKRs; report business health, risk-event summaries, and trade-offs to leadership on a recurring cadence.
  • Prioritize the roadmap by capital efficiency, revenue, and risk/compliance — not by feature checklist alone.
  • Align margin roadmap with Unified Trading Account evolution (spot, perpetuals, and future portfolio margin integration).

Product Strategy & Roadmap

  • Own the margin & lending product roadmap, aligned with HashKey’s unified account strategy and SFC regulatory requirements.
  • Define product scope and phasing (e.g. cross vs. isolated margin, supported collateral assets, leverage tiers, borrowing/lending flows, interest and fee models).
  • Conduct competitive and market analysis and translate insights into actionable product decisions.
  • Partner with Risk and Legal so product design meets investor protection, suitability, and risk disclosure standards before launch and at each iteration.

Product Definition & Delivery

  • Write clear PRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria for margin features across web, mobile, and API — as the means to deliver business outcomes.
  • Define end-to-end user flows: onboarding, suitability assessment, collateral deposit, borrowing/repayment, trading, margin monitoring, margin calls, and liquidation.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Quant on margin engine logic, collateral weight (CW) parameters, tiered margin rate tables, and integration with the unified account (uniMMR) framework.
  • Drive features from concept through UAT, production release, and post-launch monitoring.
  • Work with Design on margin dashboards, risk ratio indicators, borrow/repay interfaces, and user education.

Margin Risk Operations & Parameters

  • Serve as the accountable owner of the live margin & lending book after launch.
  • Own the change cycle for margin parameters (collateral lists, leverage tiers, CW adjustments, rate tables) within Risk-approved mandate: initiate → align with Risk → schedule → communicate → document → execute.
  • Actively monitor LTV, collateral quality, concentration, liquidation quality, and portfolio health; escalate with clear recommendations.
  • Own business-side incident response and post-mortems for margin call disputes, liquidation inquiries, system incidents, and cross-team response.
  • Maintain operational runbooks, launch checklists, and incident playbooks; drive continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Customer Support and Marketing on FAQ, help center, user communications, and campaign support as needed.

Lending Operations & Credit (Within Mandate)

  • Own daily / VIP / institutional borrowing and credit-line decisions within approved risk frameworks, with clear SLA and audit trail.
  • Monitor lending pool / loan book health, utilization, and liquidity; jointly manage funding cost and capital allocation with Treasury.
  • Oversee complex margin calls, liquidation exceptions or grace periods for key clients, and post-liquidation reporting.

Regulatory & Compliance Alignment

  • Ensure product documentation and operational changes align with SFC requirements and HashKey internal compliance policies before go-live.
  • Ensure risk disclosures, suitability controls, client agreements, and product knowledge requirements stay consistent with product and parameter changes.
  • Coordinate with Legal & Compliance on client classification, leverage limits, and marketing material review.
  • Own product/business inputs for internal and external regulatory submissions, audits, and product change approvals.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Represent margin & lending in steering committees, risk committee reviews, and executive reporting.
  • Build relationships with institutional and VIP clients to gather feedback and inform prioritization.
  • Make structured trade-offs with Risk on parameters — propose options with risk/return rationale, not only relay requests.

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of product and/or business ownership experience in financial services, crypto exchanges, or brokerage/trading platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience having end-to-end owned a live margin trading, leverage, lending, or derivatives business line — not only participated in a project.
  • Strong understanding of margin mechanics: initial/maintenance margin, collateral valuation, leverage tiers, margin calls, liquidation, and interest accrual.
  • Proven ability to work with Risk on structured parameter trade-offs (collateral weights, leverage tiers, rate tables) with clear risk/return rationale.
  • Familiarity with Hong Kong virtual asset or securities regulation (SFC VATP framework, professional investor rules, risk disclosure requirements).
  • Ability to write structured PRDs and drive delivery with Engineering, QA, and Design when needed.
  • Hands-on live-book experience — comfortable owning KPIs, parameter change cycles, and production incident response.
  • Experience presenting to risk committee / product governance and driving approved parameter or product changes preferred as a strong signal of ownership caliber.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication; Cantonese or Mandarin strongly preferred for internal and client-facing coordination in Hong Kong.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Computer Science, or a related field.

Preferred

  • Experience with unified account / portfolio margin architectures at a crypto exchange (e.g. OKX, Bybit, Binance).
  • Background in risk management or close collaboration with quant/risk teams on margin parameter design.
  • Experience launching products under SFC-licensed or similarly stringent regulatory environments.
  • Familiarity with API product design for institutional and market-maker clients.
  • CFA, FRM, or equivalent professional certification.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to own a core leveraged product franchise at one of Asia’s leading licensed crypto exchanges.
  • Direct impact on product architecture spanning margin trading, unified accounts, and cross-product risk management.
  • Clear ownership with visibility to Risk and executive forums; performance evaluation tied to margin business outcomes and operational risk quality.
  • Collaborative, cross-functional environment with exposure to Risk, Compliance, Engineering, and leadership.
  • Competitive compensation package, including performance bonus and token/equity incentives (subject to company policy).
  • Hybrid work arrangement in Hong Kong.
